THE SONG OF THE JAILBIRD

up the wall, there's a hole
one that brings light to all
feeble bones,we gather, piece by piece, in crave
to see what the day, new , has for the brave

surrounded by four walls, we reside
drinking, in each others doldrums, side by side
our skins, pale, peeled off by the cold, so malicious
so bitter to the bones, so ferocious

one corner, lies the bowl of relief
one which we discard our grief
one corner, lies the filthy heaps of our own
one which roofs tenants unknown
though they comfort in times of somber

the hours 're short, the days 're long
the dawn will set, the dusk will rise
the warmth of the summer will grow
bu' not a hair will kiss the myriad of the sun

our today, same as yesterday, same as tomorrow
like Pandora, we swim in our own sorrow
we sit to count the delights in our anger
to shun away the loud pangs of hunger

hope is the only good, common to all men, they say
     'n as the hours pass-by
we get our fingers crossed
hoping the master will show us mercy in the end

like fluffy clouds in the sky, hours fly
my brothers and i clump in a corner,to wipe the tear dry
the pains are bitter, but we gotta bear
in this crazy world, you gotta live with no fear

all the day long,we cling to our stories
stories that marked a phase in our live
we sing them over in earnest
true, music hath charms to sooth a salvage beast

"life is like a game,"so they say
our young wounded brother sings
"open for all to play"
"and break rules like they dont care?"
"oh lil brother, this life,a heartbreak to my soul
a peasant i cry,was never meant to fall"
"a sheep by light,a wolf in the dark shadows
so they called me"
"you gotta pardon your own canoes
so they told me
n i like leprosy,they rebuffed me"
"no brother, you gotta listen to my hard-luck story
but feel not to say sorry
for this life broods nothing but hatred
to whom much is given, much is tested"
"and they cant let you walk in the happy past
no,they cant,no,not the boys of the state"
"told 'em i never meant to rain em doom
was just trying to save my loved ones from gloom
but they still pricked the thorns deep in my flesh"
"yet for them they reside in lavish"
"the course of true justice, never did run smooth"
"the long arm ran after us back and forth
and when it caught up with us,we were too weak to say a word
we had to give in,to elude the burning sword"
"tell you, brothers, once the gavel was knocked loud
knew my life had hit the odd"
"oh brothers,what sorrows you speak
what pain you drive in my heart,in a blink"
"i shed tears of blood
every morn, every night recalling my child
such a beautiful child, never seen dad"
"that night, told my dear one,i'll be back
but i never made it back
know she waited long, but hope no boots stand at her door
hope her lips haven't kissed the poisoned arrow"
"oh brothers, stop your stories,a flood of sorrow to my heart
you drive your anger out in fine art,
but you gotta know walls have ears"
"ears?let them have them,we got no fears"
"yes,brother,the truth must be told
this life,you gotta be bold"
"brother, cowards die many times before their death
the valiant never taste of death, but once
you gotta step up and..."
"brothers,oh brothers,the seasons are fading
brothers,the ages are gliding
brothers,the petals are withering
brothers,the judgement is closing
brothers,so stop dwindling in sorrows
turn to the Deity, you may not face the gallows
pray,oh brothers, you may live to spend your last dime
brothers,oh brothers...bow down we pray.."

n the tunes will go on and on
n the music will sound on and on
and the lyrics will flow on and on
away from the normal phase of life
our minds will forever be in strife
we live in the hopes unknown
hoping justice,the deity will deliver
in one time,the near future
but for now,we got nothing, but what the music brings
and nothing,no one,can stop the jailbird when he sings
the song of the jailbird
